New! From the same lineage as Ballerina, Linen offers refinements in bloom form, color, and overall uniformity. Like Ballerina, Linen produces a high percentage of double blooms, but its slightly smaller 4–5" blooms are more consistently dahlia-shaped. The color range consists of warm, flaxen tones. Developed by Johnny's Breeding Team and named 'Linen' for its clean, almost neutral color palette. Fresh-cut blooms are oatmeal in color with a pale pink or pale peach cast. Whimsical and wild statice looks to be a thing of fairytales or a sea-dwelling creature. Compared to L. sinuatum types, this statice has a very different look but is also earlier and easier to harvest. Plants have mostly basal leaves, which makes the stems easy to locate for cutting, and there are almost no leaves to strip away. Tansy, also known as golden buttons, garden tansy, and bitter buttons—is a perennial herb in the daisy family (Asteraceae), related to asters, sunflowers, and chrysanthemums. It typically grows 1 to 5 feet tall and blooms from midsummer to early fall with clusters of fragrant, button-like yellow flowers. The upright stems are lined with fern-like, aromatic leaves that give tansy its distinctive look.

Tassel Flower was introduced from Asia in 1799 and was also known as “Flora’s Paintbrush” in Victorian times. The ‘Irish Poet’ tassel flower sports long, wiry stems with small, pompom-like bright orange flowers that form in clusters. They are ideal for naturalistic gardens and grow best in full sun with good drainage. While the more common Tassel Flower (‘Scarlet Magic’) blooms an intense, deep orange-red, ‘Irish Poet’ is more of an unusual and rare variety.
The flowers are suitable as a specialty cut flower, making colorful fillers for summer bouquets.
Soapweed Yucca is a dryland, evergreen herb with beautiful, edible flowers and fruits - native to the Midwest. Soapweed Yucca has edible fruits, flowers, and flower stalks. Fruits can be eaten raw or cooked and dried for later use. Flowers are said to be delicious, and can be eaten raw or cooked. Flower stems can be used like asparagus stalks. Leaves and roots have various other medicinal and practical uses.

Soapweed Yucca is a very ornamental plant. Its evergreen leaves shoot outward in every direction, like a porcupine. Its pithy stalk extends upward to height of up to 6ft, creating a strong presence in the garden. Its dense cream-colored flowers dangle delicately from the stem. Even as the stalk ages and browns, and the seedpods mature, the plant still holds interest and intrigue. It looks great alongside other dryland native herbs, such as Biscuitroots and Balsamroots, or underneath dryland trees like Pinyon Pines.
Kintzley’s Ghost® honeysuckle hasn’t always been a Proven Winners ColorChoice Shrub. But, we grew it, got to know it, and had to add it! This wild-looking plant is actually native to North America. Each season, it begins like any other honeysuckle, with typical dusty green leaves. As the season progresses, flower buds pop out like saucers. These rounded bracts look a lot like eucalyptus, but the flowers at the center feed native pollinators like hummingbirds! They turn into red berries in the fall, but won’t become a nuisance like other honeysuckles. Red Valerian, is a hardy perennial known for its clusters of vibrant, deep pink to red flowers that bloom from late spring through summer. Stella d'Oro, Hemerocallis ‘Stella De Oro’, is the most popular of all daylilies. By far one of the most prolonged blooms, Stella d'Oro has golden-yellow flowers with a rosy gold throat that spans 2 1/2". This lovely daylily requires very little maintenance and is cold-hardy to 5 degrees Fahrenheit. Daylily Stella d’Oro tolerates partial shade, but they grow best in full sun. The blooms of Stella D’Oro Daylilies start in late May and will continue to reblossom into early fall (reblossoming best if deadheaded). Winner of the 1985 American Hemerocallis Society Silver Stout Medal award (AHS' highest honor) as well as 1982 Award of Merit, 1979 American Daylily Society Honorable Mention, and 1979 Donn Fischer Memorial Cup! The flowers are edible!
