Oaxacan Jewel Tomato

Oaxacan Jewel Tomato (Heat tolerant)

The Oaxacan Jewel Tomato is an indeterminate heirloom variety from southern Mexico, celebrated for its radiant coloration and refined flavor rooted in traditional Indigenous seedkeeping. Maturing in about 80–85 days, it produces large, 10–16 ounce fruits with golden-yellow skin marbled by deep pink and orange hues—each slice resembling a glowing gemstone in the sun. Fruits are dense, juicy, and sweet with a mellow acidity, offering a balanced, almost tropical flavor that makes them ideal for fresh slicing, roasting, or elevating salads and salsas. The marbled flesh is meaty with few seeds, holding its form well while showcasing remarkable color contrast and texture.Plants are vigorous and heat-tolerant, growing 6–8 feet tall with consistent yields through the summer. They thrive in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, benefiting from regular deep watering and mulch to maintain steady soil moisture. A regional treasure from the Oaxacan highlands, the Oaxacan Jewel Tomato carries forward a legacy of Indigenous horticultural brilliance—blending aesthetic beauty, adaptability, and extraordinary flavor into one of the most visually stunning heirloom tomatoes grown today. It is reported that this type of tomato performs well in hotter climates and may tolerate receiving less water than other varieties. We haven't tested this yet but will this year in 2026.
